Workers in many countries are getting seriously ill from working with engineered (artificial) stone. In response, Australia banned engineered stone countertops with more than 1% crystalline silica. Join our WHWB webinar where Professor Deborah Glass from Monash University in Australia will provide compelling evidence linking job exposure patterns with increased risk of respiratory disease among workers exposed to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) from engineered stone. This research provided an important evidence base for Australia’s ban.

Speaker: Professor Deborah Glass, MA, MSc, PhD, Cert Ed, Dip Occ Hyg, FAIOH, MonCOEH, School of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University
This lecture was previously presented at the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) in Newcastle in 2025.
